9 July 2020 | By | No Comments

Let’s take a bike trip among lavender fields to the sound of cicadas.
Provence in France is the favorite holiday spot for French and European travellers because it’s always sunny. South French cities have the best sunshine ratio.
Be careful about heatwaves periods. Prefer Spring or September for your bike holidays in Provence.

Today, let’s explore the Gorges de la Nesque with beautiful views of the famous Mont Ventoux. Be prepared: it’s a little climb.

Several touristic places can be your starting point, why not Saint-Didier, small Provençal village.

From there, you’ll cycle for 35km on the D942 until the beautiful village of Monieux..

The Gorges de la Nesque road winds along the Nesque with a few steep cliffs and a breathtaking view.

However, you’ll be rewarded upon your arrival, on the condition you stop at the restaurant ‘Les Lavandes’ where you can enjoy a bite or just have a drink.

If you are on a journey, cycle up to Sault to spend the night there. It’s only 6km away.

If you’d like to get back to your starting point, take a different road, the D5. Cycle down to the Monieux lake and then take the road that goes uphill. You will soon get to a plateau with a lavender field and a nice view on the Mont Ventoux.
